I picked up my first knife with CPM-M4 steel today - a Doug Ritter RSK MK1 Survival Knife (also known as a Benchmade 550 Griptilian).

I bought the limited edition knife from www.Aeromedix.com as a pre-order. Aeromedix shipped the knife very quickly as soon as they had received them from Benchmade.

The deal with this is that the steel is very special - it is alloyed, then, while still molten, it is sprayed through a fine orifice into the air, where the small particles cool to form a powder that settles to the floor of the spray receptacle.

What makes this special is that the extremely small particles have a very even dispersal of the alloy ingredients - which makes for a very uniform structure to the steel.

I know - I am a knife geek, but now you know why I bought this one.
